According to Japan's National Institute of Infectious Diseases, 877 cases of streptococcal toxic shock syndrome have been reported as of June 2, which is more than last year. This illness usually involves inflammation and infection of the throat, also known as strep throat.
However, some bacteria are also developing which causes tingling, fever, and low BP in the body. Besides, necrosis, breathing problems, and organ failure also occur which prove fatal. According to a study by Tokyo Women's Medical University, death can occur within 48 hours after infection. The swelling seen in the leg of the patient continues to progress in the body which causes death.
Symptoms of this particular type of illness have also appeared in several other countries. Given the way the infection is spreading in Japan, the number of patients is likely to cross 2500. The risk of death in this disease is 30 percent. Children and citizens above 50 years of age have to be especially careful. Frequent hand washing and keeping external organ wounds clean is essential.
