Bottled Water Health Risks: Every person should drink at least 8-10 glasses of water during the day for good health. But how clean the water we are drinking is equally important for our health. For some time now many people have been buying 20 liter bottles as drinking water. But many of these bottles are unbranded i.e. there are no details like which company they belong to, or where the water is processed from. This water sold in the name of 'mineral water' can prove dangerous for kidneys.

It is necessary to check how clean the water in the bottle is

In Gujarat, the sale of water in such unnamed 'Kerba' has increased for some time now. This type of curb is called when there is any occasion or there is no drinking water in the house. Such unbranded water sellers often claim that their water is RO-filtered. But how much truth there is in the claim is a big question. Most of the water bottles delivered to the doorstep are not labeled. Due to this, there is a risk of waterborne disease.

No guidelines are followed

As per the guidelines of Food Safety and Standards of India, the water sold in this way should be sealed and it is mandatory to have details like product name, address of the processor, batch number, treatment method, and how long the water is best to use. But no such detail is found in it. Many times these 20-liter water bottles are filled with water without proper cleaning and sold to new customers.

No action is taken by the Food Safety Department

In many areas of Ahmedabad, factories selling bottled water are booming without any stoppage. In this way, no action is taken by the Food Safety Department against the sellers of unbranded water or they turn a blind eye.

Risk of waterborne disease by drinking such water

Regarding this, the former president of Ahmedabad Medical Association Dr. Mehul Shalat said, 'Thus the possibility of mineral balance in carba water sold without brand is negligible. Due to this drinking this water can disrupt the mineral balance of our body. According to WHO, drinking water should contain elements like salt, calcium, sodium, and boron, but the question is whether it will be maintained in this unbranded carbon water. By drinking this type of water, there is a risk of getting waterborne disease, B12 deficiency, kidney effects, liver side effects, cancer, etc.
