The fruit grows naturally, but…

After three years of planting the seeds or plants of figs, they start bearing fruit. Its fruit grows naturally and is completely vegetarian, but the twist in the story is that figs undergo a process of preparation. Because of that process, many people do not consider figs to be vegetarian.

Unique Art of Nature

Some people believe that figs turn from veg to non-veg. The reason behind this is its pollination process i.e. the process of pollination. The pollination of figs depends on the type of small wasp. There is a small hole in the fig fruit through which the wasp enters the fig. The fig flower is inside the fig fruit, so the wasp has to go inside the fruit for pollination.

Such a process takes place inside the fig

After entering the fruit, male and female wasps reproduce. The female wasp lays eggs inside the fruit. To complete the pollination process, the wasp tries to come out of the fruit with its body coated with the pollen of the fig flower. Male wasps help the female wasps to get out of the fruit, but they are not always successful. Sometimes the female wasps come out, but the male dies inside. Sometimes both the male and female die inside the fruit, and the pollination work of the wasps remains incomplete.

This is how the fruit becomes ‘nonveg’

The enzyme called ficin present in the fig dissolves the body of the dead wasp and mixes it with the pulp of the fruit. In this way, the dead body of the wasp becomes part of the fruit. Larvae are born from the eggs laid by the wasp and take the form of wasps. They also try to get out of the fruit. If they can get out, it is fine, otherwise, like their parents, they also die inside the fruit and get absorbed into the fig.

Strict vegetarians do not eat figs

After the fig fruit ripens, it is dried and made into dry fruit. That is why some people consider figs as a non-veg fruit. That is why many strict vegetarians do not eat figs, while some people consider this entire process of pollination of figs as natural and do not consider this fruit as non-veg.
