- Even if a corner of a normal paper touches the skin, blood comes out
- When he turned 13, he had planned his own funeral
Today, medical science has found a cure for the biggest disease. Even for a global epidemic like Corona, a vaccine has been found in just one year. But even today, there are some terrible diseases on this earth, for which medical science does not have an answer. Amitabh Bachchan's film 'Pa' also talks about such a terrible disease. But today we are going to talk to you about a rare disease, whose victim is an 18-year-old boy living in Boston, England. This boy's name is Rhys Williams. You cannot think but your heart will tremble after seeing the condition of this boy.
Even a corner of a normal paper gets on the skin and it bleeds
Rice was born with a disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), which means butterfly. It is a terrible disease related to the skin. Due to this disease, Rice's skin is so thin that even a corner of a normal paper gets on it and it bleeds. Not only that, lumps of flesh come out of the body with ordinary scratching. And he is living with pain in his body every day. However, doctors say that now he has only a few days left to live.
When he turned 13, he had planned his own funeral
Currently, his parents said that they are now planning Rice's funeral. They said that when he was born, the doctors said that this child would be able to live for 10 years. But when he turned 13, he planned his own funeral, so that when his death approached, he would be ready for it.
Currently, he cannot even be put on a ventilator
He turned 18 this September 2023, fighting against all odds, but after the last few weeks, he developed sepsis and pneumonia. Then he was taken to the hospital on November 4, but the doctors said that there was no cure for him now, so his treatment has been stopped completely. According to the doctor, his body is so fragile that he cannot even be put on a ventilator.
What is this butterfly disease?
Butterfly is called epidermolysis bullosa in medical science. Usually, a child gets this disease at birth. 1 in 50 thousand children worldwide have this disease. After falling victim to the disease, the child dies within 5 years. The disease has three stages. The first is EB simplex, which causes blisters on the surface of the skin. It affects 70 percent of patients. The second is dystrophic EB, which causes blisters below the skin level and affects 25 percent of patients. The third is junctional EB, which causes blisters below the skin level, and is usually the most severe.
