Do you also use non-stick utensils for cooking?

However, this tool that makes your work easier can cause serious damage to your health. Continuous use of non-stick utensils can cause many health problems.

What are the disadvantages of non-stick utensils?

Nonstick cookware contains PFOA, which has been linked to a variety of health problems. It is responsible for thyroid disorders, kidney and liver diseases, and breast, prostate, and ovarian cancer.

Polytetrafluoroethylene itself is commonly called Teflon. These are made using PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid), which is toxic to health. Cooking food in Teflon every day allows this toxic chemical to accumulate in the body over time, leading to illnesses.

PFCs (Perfluorinated Chemicals) used in non-stick can prove fatal for pregnancy. It can cause weight loss in children. Also, problems like immune dysfunction or preeclampsia can occur.

How to defend

Replace damaged non-stick pans immediately. The appearance of damage or cracks means that the layer of dangerous PFOA has broken down, contaminating the food itself from cooking. This releases toxins, which contaminate food and invite many diseases.

Even if using a non-stick, choose the right temperature for safe cooking. Non-stick cookware is not meant to cook food at high temperatures. So cook food at low temperature to avoid its risk.

Choose the right vessel. Use a non-metallic or wooden spatula.

Avoid using aluminum utensils. Use steel, glass, or iron utensils.
