Some elements present in bitter gourd can also pass into breast milk. This element may be harmful to infants. So lactating mothers should also avoid the consumption of bitter gourd.
Whose blood sugar level is low
Karela has a special property that it helps in lowering the blood sugar level but if you are already taking diabetes medicines or your blood sugar level is often low then consuming karela can be harmful for you. This can cause the blood sugar level to drop too much.
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency
This is a genetic disease. It weakens the red blood cells of the body. Karela seeds contain certain elements, which can cause anemia in people suffering from G6PD deficiency.
