Un-Healthy India: The World Health Organization (WHO) has made a shocking revelation about Indians. According to a report, almost half of Indians have become so lazy that they do not even do the physical labor required for routine. Due to this, they can become victims of serious diseases by 2030.
Laziness is the main cause of chronic diseases
According to WHO, everyone should do at least 150 minutes of physical activity a week to stay healthy. But half of the people are lazy about this, due to which they are inviting chronic diseases. If people do not change this habit, it can have bad consequences in the long run.
60 percent of people's health can be affected
According to a report, about 57 percent of women in India are very less physically active. While 42 percent of men are those who do very little physical work. In the year 2000, this figure was 22.3 percent which has increased to 49.4 percent. According to the World Health Organization, if Indians do not stop laziness, the health of about 60 percent of Indians may be affected by 2030.
197 countries of the world were studied
Researchers have studied the physical activity of 5.7 million people in 197 countries around the world. An international team of researchers, including WHO experts, analyzed population-based studies from the year 2000 to 2022. India's data was sent by the Diabetes Research Institute in Madras. South Asia ranks second in terms of ill effects on health due to not being physically active. The situation in the Asia-Pacific region is worse.
A third of the world's population is unfit
According to the report, 31.3% i.e. almost a third of people worldwide are unfit due to lack of physical activity. According to the researchers, the number of adults globally who were not physically active was 26.4% in 2010, increasing by 5% in 2022. Also, rates of physical inactivity among both men and women aged 60 and over are increasing globally.
At least 150 minutes of exercise per week is required
According to health experts, everyone should do at least 150 minutes of physical activity a week. Also, it is not necessary to go to the gym, you can also walk or jog. Apart from this, you can also do exercises like cycling, swimming, and running. However, we are not able to do this even though we have access to many facilities. Due to this we unknowingly invite many diseases. Which sometimes also causes mental illnesses.
Exercise is essential to reduce the risk of chronic diseases
If you sit all day every day without physical labor or any kind of exercise, the energy from food will be stored as fat. Which will increase obesity and because of that the body will automatically become the home of many diseases. Being physically inactive will also increase cholesterol which will start to build up in the blood vessels and cause heart-related diseases. Hence it can be said that a little exercise can reduce the risk of chronic diseases like blood pressure and heart disease.
