One more case of monkeypox raises India's concern, alerts emerge as passenger from Dubai to Kerala tests positive
First Mpox Case Confirmed in Kerala: The first case of monkeypox has been reported in Kerala. According to the Kerala government, a 38-year-old man who returned from the UAE has been diagnosed with monkeypox. He is currently undergoing treatment in Mallapuram district. Last week, a person with monkeypox-like symptoms was admitted to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital and treated. It is to be noted that last month the World Health Organization declared monkeypox an emergency.
This person came to Kerala from Dubai
According to the District Health Officer, the man had recently returned to Kerala from Dubai and was admitted to the hospital after falling ill. He was then admitted to Manjeri Medical College. His samples have been taken because of the suspicion of possible monkeypox infection. And those samples have been sent to Kozhikode Medical College for testing.
A case of monkeypox was also reported in Delhi
A new case of monkeypox was reported in the national capital Delhi last week. A 26-year-old man from Hisar in Haryana was infected with the virus. And now he was admitted to LNJP Hospital of Delhi Govt.
A separate case from the World Health Organization warning
A total of 30 cases have been reported in India since July 2022, but they are isolated cases, the Union Health Ministry said. The ministry also clarified that the case is separate from the public health emergency declared by the World Health Organization (WHO), which is related to clade 1 of monkeypox.
